When arriving in the Netherlands for the first time there are many things that you have to arrange. All necessary information can be found on the WUR website.

Every student of Wageningen University and Aeres Hogeschool Wageningen can participate in the AID. As a student starting in Wageningen you can apply as an AID participant. Your dietary preferences or food allergies/intolerances should be filled in in your AID Tactile account. If you have filled it in via your AID Tactile account, we will take your preferences into account during lunches and dinner. When receiving your food during lunch and dinner, please indicate your dietary preference once again to make sure all goes well.

General - I have a disability/limitation, can I still participate?

Of course! You are more than welcome to participate in the AID!

This year we offer low-stimulus groups. A low-stimulus group is filled with people who are interested in a quieter AID. Mentors of this group will be aware of this wish and will think along with the wishes of the group and individuals. Moreover, during the AID there is a quiet room available for anyone to use if necessary.

If you still have concerns or questions, e-mail us at info.aid@wur.nl. We strive for an inclusive AID and want you to enjoy the AID to the fullest.

General - Is there room for religion during the AID?

Yes, the religious student associations are featured throughout the AID program. Additional information about them can be found in the AID App.

During the AID there will be a room reserved in Forum for prayer.

So there are only advantages in participating in what will be your best week ever!

To cancel your registration, you'll have to send an email to info.aid@wur.nl.

Mentor - What does it cost to participate in the AID as a mentor?

The participation fee for a BSc mentor is €40.00.

The participation fee for a MSc mentor is free.

Participants - I already live in Wageningen or I will not be living in Wageningen at all, is it also for me useful to participate?

Yes, of course! The AID is not only about the city Wageningen. It is also about getting started with your student life and meeting fellow students. During the AID you will also be introduced to various associations like sports, study or student related associations. It is also the perfect time to make friends and already know some people before your study even starts!

Participants - I don’t have a room yet, is there some place to stay during the AID?

If you don't have a room in Wageningen yet, you can probably stay with someone else in your AID-group. This can be arranged by your mentor. Another option might be sleeping at a association house, you can find information on the websites of SSR-WKSV FranciscusUnitas, Nji-Sri, Argo and Ceres (or other associations!). On the Facebook page 'Wageningen Student Plaza' many sleeping places for the AID are offered. If this is not possible, you can check the housing desk website or Kamernet for a sleeping place or room to rent. Housing organisation Idealis takes care of a major part of student housing in Wageningen, you can subscribe for a room on their website but you will not be the only one subscribing. Take into account that subscription does not result immediately in a room.

Don’t have a place to stay during the AID and you also cannot stay with any of your group members? Come stay at the AID campsite! You can sleep here in your own tent (max size is a 6-person tent) during the entire AID. The cost for your whole AID (six days) are €50. The camping is equipped with everything you need: showers, toilets, breakfasts and lots of fun. So if you don’t want to miss a moment of the AID, fix your spot at the campsite during registration or via your AID Tactile account!

More information on finding a room.

Participants - Is it possible to arrive later than the first day of the AID?

Yes, it is possible to arrive later than your first day.

Please, send an email to info.aid@wur.nl to arrange this.

Participants - Is it possible to only participate in study related programme parts?

You can choose to only take part in the study day with your fellow students. You can buy a Study Day Ticket on the AID Tactile App.

Participants - Not 18 years old yet?

Are you not 18 years yet when you come to Wageningen? No problem! You can just join all the activities of the AID and will be placed into a group with some other under 18 participants. In the Netherlands, you are not allowed to drink alcohol or smoke under the age of 18. Therefore, you will get a special 18 minus wristband during the AID.

Participants - Until what date can I register for the AID?

Registration for the AID closes on the 31st of July 2026.

If you want to register after this date please send a message to aid.info@wur.nl

Participants - What do I need to bring along if I participate in the AID?

It is very handy if you take the following items with you:

- A mobile phone, to look on the online schedule via the AID Tactile App.
- The e-mail with your registration code (either printed or on your phone)
- Means of identifications like an ID card, drivers license or passport
- A bicycle with good lighting (to cycle between the locations)
- Sportswear and in- and outdoor gym shoes (for the Sportsday)
- Water bottle or reusable cup (we don't provide single use cups for lunch)
- Sunscreen or a rain coat and umbrella, depending on the weather
- Most associations only accept a debit card as payment, some also accept cash. A credit card is not widely accepted, so it is not recommended to bring along to the associations. At all the AID activities on campus you can pay with credit card (Visa, Mastercard or Diners Club) or debit. You cannot pay with cash!

Participants - What does it cost to participate in the AID and until when can I pay?

The registration fee for the AID is €79.95. It includes all lunches and dinners as well as participation in all activities.

Participants - What if I do not get accepted for my degree?

If you are not accepted for your degree, you can cancel your registration for the AID without costs before July 31st 2026. After that, we will charge all the costs and you will not receive any refund.

Participants - Will I get to know people from my study?

In your AID group, you will have some other people from your study, which you will get to know during the whole week. You will also be given the opportunity to meet fellow students during the study day, where only people from your study will be present.

For exchange students, this is a bit different. As you do not follow courses of one degree, we will try to place you with another exchange student. During the study day, the focus will be on understanding the Dutch systems.

For students of Aeres Hogeschool, you will be placed together with other students of Aeres Hogeschool. During the study day, you will be visiting Aeres Hogeschool and learn more about studying in general.
